Scott Quigg is refusing to call himself a world champion until he beats Yoadris Salinas in the ring on September 28th.

Quigg tackles the tough Cuban on the undercard of David Haye's heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury at the MEN Arena, live on Sky Box Office.

The undefeated 24-year-old will enter the ring with the WBA super bantamweight title after being promoted from interim champion following his win over Rendall Munroe last November.

However, Quigg is determined to achieve his childhood dream of becoming a world champion by doing it inside the ring.

"If I don't win that fight I'm not a world champion," said Quigg. "On the 28th that's when I win that fight and become world champion. That's when I'm world champion.

"This is the dream I've had since I was a kid, no one wants to win a world title out of the ring. I want to win my world title in a ring against a good opponent.

"I know we're up against a very good fighter, he's had over 300 wins as an amateur but me and Joe are confident with what we've come up with and he'll have to worry about me as well on the night.

Quigg's trainer, Joe Gallagher, added: "He's a very, very dangerous opponent, comes with a good reputation from the gyms in Miami.

"He spars with world class opponents and like I say when you're fighting for a world title you want to be fighting a world class opponent and that's what this fight has got.

"I think this fight on the night is going to steal the show, which will be hard to do with the other people that will be boxing that night, but I really do think that this will be the fight of the night.

"Scott Quigg, I've always said will be a world champion, it's nice that's it's on paper but it doesn't mean nothing at the moment now we want to go and win it in the ring and do it in front of his adoring Manchester fans."
