Junior welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18KOs) says his manager will speak with Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, promoter of Lucas Matthysse, about a potential rematch.

Matthysse (37-4, 34KOs) won a very close twelve round majority decision over Provdonikov in April. A rematch was pursued, but Matthysse instead fought Viktor Postol last month and was knocked out in nine rounds.

Postol and Provodnikov share the same manager in Vadim Kornilov.

Provodnikov is now being trained by Joel Diaz and returned last week with a big knockout victory in Monaco.

"My Manager Vadim Kornilov will soon meet with Oscar De La Hoya to discuss a rematch with Lucas Matthysse. Additionally, the meeting will be held on the initiative of the Golden Boy. They acknowledged that after our first fight the better solution for them would have be an immediate rematch with us rather than organizing a fight with Victor Postol. Now they understand and are interested in our fight again," Provodnikov said.
