ProBox Management - headed by Henry Rivalta and Garry Jonas - reached an agreement to manage the career of red-hot 17-year old former amateur standout Josue Vargas.

With the signing, the talented super lightweight boxer from Puerto Rico will also fight under the Al Haymon advisory banner, with his pro debut to come in the near future.

"I'm really excited," noted Rivalta, whose growing ProBox stable includes bantamweight champ Juan Carlos Payano, unbeaten rising star Erickson Lubin and promising prospect Dennis Galarza among many other fighters. "Vargas is a young talent who has received offers from many people in boxing, including Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Recently, Vargas was in Las Vegas training at Mayweather Boxing Club and now he is with us. ProBox will carry him along - with all the talent we have - to the next level."

Vargas was one of the best amateur boxers in the Americas, a brilliant run that included a 72-8 record. He was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, and at 5 years old his family moved to New York.

From there, with the help of his father, Tito and standout amateur trainer Victor Peña, Vargas forged his amateur career and won major national tournaments in each category in which he fought.

"PROBOX has given us everything we expected to debut Josue in the professional ranks," states Tito Vargas. "We are pleased with this agreement, and we are confident that we are on the right path to achieve our goals. Thanks to Mr. Rivalta, Mr. Jonas and the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) Al Haymon supports, we have put Josue in the best hands."

Added Josue: "I want to thank God and my parents, representatives of PROBOX Mr. Rivalta and Mr. Jonas, and all my friends and fans for their support. Today I join a group of excellent fighters, and I hope to give Puerto Rico and all boxing fans great fights."

The trick now is finding the right for Vargas to have his talents showcased in the pro ranks. With PBC shows popping up virtually every week, his team will figure out the perfect opportunity to unleash the leader of the next generation.

"ProBox is looking for a card to allow Vargas to make his debut," notes Rivalta. "His debut will come in the 140 lb. division, but his age (17) limits his options a bit. Some states allow professional debutants at this age, and some do not. We will find the right opportunity, and hope to make the announcement of his debut very soon."
