BoxingScene.com has been advised that a verbal agreement was reached for a heavyweight clash between WBA "regular" champion Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15KOs) and rugged contender Cedric Boswell (35-1, 26KOs).

According to a source close to Team Povetkin, the fight was offered to Hasim Rahman, the WBA's top contender, but he wasn't happy with the money and requested a sum that Sauerland Event was unable to accommodate. A similar incident took place in April, when Rahman overpriced himself from a possible fight with unbeaten British champion Tyson Fury.

Povetkin's team reached out to the WBA and made a request for 4-5 available names from the WBA's top fifteen. The majority of the top fifteen were unavailable or unwilling to travel overseas.

The fight was also offered to Jean Marc Mormeck, ranked at #9, who publically disclosed that he turned the opportunity down to accept a fight with WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on December 10.

Boswell has not signed a contract at the moment, but the fight is being positioned to take place on December 3rd in Helsinki.
