It’s been a little more than a year since Dyah Ali Davis — the son of 1976 Olympic boxing gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. — last fought. On that night in June 2012, he suffered a loss to gritty veteran (and current titleholder) Sakio Bika.

Davis hadn’t been back since. That will change next week, though, when he appears on a card on July 19 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla., according to Davis.

“Took some time off, regrouped, got my team in order and I’m ready for a successful return,” he told BoxingScene.com.

Though the card wasn’t yet listed on BoxRec.com, the casino website advertises Davis’ bout. Davis, the site says, “continues his relentless pursuit of a World Title shot by destroying his opponents in Ali-like fashion in an 8 round Super Middleweight Main Event attraction.”

No opponent was listed. “As far as I know, Carlos De Leon signed to fight,” Davis said.

Carlos De Leon Jr. — the son of former cruiserweight titleholder Carlos De Leon —last fought more than four years ago, when he suffered a second-round technical knockout to Allan Green on the undercard of Carl Froch vs. Jermain Taylor. The 34-year-old is 21-3-2 with 14 knockouts.

Davis is 32 years old and is 21-3-1 with 9 knockouts.
