As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, Shawn Porter will return to the ring in January against an opponent to be determined soon.

The Ohio native suffered his first career loss against Kell Brook in his last fight. The fight wasn't very aesthetically pleasing and Porter had trouble getting effective punches off against Brook's holding tactics. He said that he has focused on that as a rematch would have far different results.

"I definitely have a better way to combat that," Porter stated. "I feel bad for the guys that I have been sparring lately. I have been a little rough with them when they hold me. It's kind of weird, when they start to hold me I kind of revert back to the fight and it puts me in the mind set where I say I can't allow that. You will see some improvements with better technique and you will see overall a better boxer in his next fight."

As for who he wants next, Porter didn't name any names and simply said that he wants to face opponents that are available.

"There is no one in particular I am looking for. I have said this before but there is nothing but big fights there (in the welterweight division). I think there is nothing but big fights in front of me," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
