Junior welterweight Pedro Campa returns to action Saturday night against Jose Alfaro, Zanfer Promotions rep Sean Gibbons confirmed to Boxingscene.com Thursday night.
The 10 round bout will take place at the Malecon Turistico in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. Campa-Alfaro will top a beIN Sports en Espanol broadcast, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT.
Campa (19-1, 14 KOs) is coming off a 10 round unanimous decision over Aaron Herrera on December 12. He has won his last eight bouts in a row.
Campa is very popular in his home state. Saturday will mark the 16th time he has fought in Sonora.
Alfaro (28-9-1 1NC, 24 KOs) is a two-time world title challenger. He was stopped in both bouts at the hands of Yusuke Kobori (2008) and Antonio DeMarco (2009).
In his last bout on October 31, the Nagarote, Nicaragua resident fought to a no-contest against Jose Zepeda after the first round. In that bout, Zepeda suffered a cut below his left eye by an accidental clash of heads that ringside doctors deemed was too deep to continue.
In the opening bout of the broadcast, junior lightweight Adrian Young (22-2-2, 18 KOs) squares off against Edson Ramirez (31-2-1, 5 KOs) in a 10 round bout.
