The stage is set for tomorrow's big night of boxing in Kiev, Ukraine. Unlike the majority of the events, organized by K2 Ukraine, this one will not be filled in with numerous stay-busy fights of experienced, world-ranked contenders. Oppositely, there would be just two battle-tested boxers on the card, and, moreover, the real star of the show will be a professional debutant.

The featured man is a former amateur star Olexander Usyk, a highly regarded Ukrainian boxer, who makes his debut as a professional cruiserweight. Usyk, a close friend of featherweight sensation Vasyl Lomachenko, trained by Vasyl’s father Anatoly, is a 2012 Olympic and 2011 World champion at the heavyweight division (201 lbs). Usyk was also 2008 Ukraine’s Olympian (lost to Clemente Russo in the second round) and 2009 Milano bronze medalist (lost to recent Top Rank signee and another 2012 gold medal winner Yegor Mekhontsev).

Opposing Usyk, 26, is Mexican veteran Felipe Romero (16-7-1, 11 KOs), 29, best known for his three straight wins over late Julio Cesar Gonzalez (twice) and another Mexican veteran Saul Montana. Tonight, Usyk tipped the scale at 200.5 pounds, while Romero was 0.1 pound heavier. The bout is set for six rounds.

In the main event of the evening, WBO #9 light heavyweight Vyacheslav Uzelkov (29-3, 18 KOs) looks to continue his next run at title following several disappointing losses in crucial fights. Pitted against is a familiar figure – Contender III finalist Jaidon Condrington (21-3, 17 KOs), also known for coming at the wrong end of 2005 KO of the year versus Allan Green. IBO I/C light heavyweight title will be at stake. Uzelkov weighed-in at 174.8, and Condrington was 174.5.

In another IBO title fight, the 19-year old Chechen native Umar Salamov (7-0, 6 KOs) looks to continue his rise in ranks by taking on rugged Uzbek opponent Ravshan Jabbarov (11-4-1, 5 KOs), 23. Tonight Salamov was 174.1, and Jabbarov tipped the scale at 172.2.

Azerbaijani Agali Alyshev (19-5-2, 13 KOs) will be pitted against Belorussian Anton Rusak (6-6, 6 KOs) over six. Also on the card, famed amateur standout Artem Savenko makes his pro debut, and 16-year old Khasan Baysangurov, a teenage cousin of ex-WBO light middleweight champion Zaurbek Baysangurov and the son of Zaur’s trainer and uncle Uvais, will look to improve his record to 2-0 against debuting Mikhail Andriets.

Other weights:

Agali Alyshev (19-5-2, 13 KOs) 141.5 vs Anton Rusak (6-6, 6 KOs) TBA – 6 rounds

Khasan Baysangurov (1-0) 148 vs. Mikhail Andriets (pro debut) 145.5 – 4 rounds

The show will be held at the Kiev Palace of Sports. The card will be broadcasted by Inter Ukrainian TV channel and partially (Chechen fighters) by Grozny channel.
