Hermosillo has become in recent years a capital for high impact boxing - not only nationally, but internationally. And Sonora has been a major seed for boxing and has given great satisfaction to the Mexican fans. With this background, Zanfer Promotions is staging two big functions in association with the Sonoran capital.

On February 23, David "Tornado" Sanchez (22-2-1, 18KOs) would have the opportunity to become the first world champion of Hermosillo, when he goes for the interim-super bantamweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA). It is not known whether he will face the current owner, Venezuelan Liborio Solis, who has to decide whether he will face the full champion Kohei Kono of Japan - and that would leave the belt vacant. The situation with the WBA will be ironed out next week.

And on March 23, former champion Hernan "Tyson" Marquez will reappear, looking for a new opportunity to become world champion and above all, looking for a rematch against Brian Viloria. Marquez (34-3, 26 KOs) will fight an opponent to be determined in the new stadium that hosts the 2013 Baseball Caribbean Series.
