Cuban star and current WBA super bantamweight world champion (122 pounds), Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux, is training every day at the Xtreme Boxing Gym owned by trainer Jorge Rubio in Hialeah, along with Ramón Garbey and DJ Montanocordoba as assistant and trainer respectively.

Nearing two weeks of training, “The Jackal” Rigondeaux is working hard for the upcoming defense against Teon Kennedy. Along with other young Cuban boxers such as Angelo Santana, Hairon Socarras and the experienced Yordanis Despaigne - he realizes the level of hard physical work and technical preparation.

After Rigondeaux captured the WBA title in his last fight against Ramos on January 20th,  by TKO in six rounds, he challenged every boxer in his division. Nevertheless, very few have answered his call and some of his targets refused to step up by stating “Rigondeaux is a boring fighter.”

“It is absurd and illogical. They are supposed to call my name and challenge me to obtain a title shot,” said Rigondeaux.

The Rigondeaux-Kennedy fight is scheduled for the HBO pay-per-view undercard on June 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which features Manny Pacquiao vs. Tim Bradley in the main event.
