There was double trouble at the weigh-in for Joseph Parker’s WBO heavyweight title defence against Hughie Fury earlier today after a melee erupted at Manchester’s National Football Museum when Fury shoved the titlist, which prompted a scuffle between members of both teams that in turn required the intervention of Security Alert UK, who are working the event.

Peter McDonagh, who is also trained by Peter Fury, the father of Hughie, also caused a bit of consternation after pushing his opponent Shayne Singleton during a staredown.

Once again, the security staff had to step in to defuse the situation, but not before Singleton had managed to spin and then sprint around them as he tried to have a second go at McDonagh.

Once the dust settled on the heavyweight flare up the weights for the main event were announced, with Parker hitting 17st 7lbs [245-pounds] to Fury’s 16st 10lbs [234-pounds] to ensure that the only drama took place away from the scales ahead of tomorrow’s show, which takes place at the Manchester Arena and is being broadcast live on Youtube as part of a new PPV boxing platform.

Earlier in the day, the Furys spent time at Manchester United’s training ground, posing for photos with the team and manager Jose Mourinho before heading into the city centre to hit the scales.
