BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO - The featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez, and former featherweight world champion Orlando Salido, went face to face for the first time en route to their engagement on April 16 at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon. The card called "Maximum Rivalry" is a presentation by Top Rank, in association with PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP), and it will be televised on Showtime. Photos by Jose Perez/PRBBP

With a 30-0 record and 27 knockouts, Lopez will defend, for the third time, his 126-pound belt. The Puerto Rican was also king at 122 pounds, and made five defenses of that belt.

"Right now we must focus on the fight against Salido," Lopez said at the press conference held at the Teatro Braulio Castillo de Bayamon. "(Against Salido) Let's go round by round, wisely ... and get the win by knockout, but if not, we'll go the distance. What it will happen is that on April 16 is that we'll all celebrate another victory. "

"Juanma Lopez, if not the best, is one of the best at this weight. I know it will be a tough fight, but it's not impossible. For this I am preparing very hard and on April 16 I will decide everything," said Salido, who had fights against the former world champion Alejandro Gonzalez, Cesar Soto, Robert Guerrero and Cristobal Cruz as well as current champs Juan Manuel Marquez and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
