This past Wednesday, March 27th, undefeated middleweight prospect J’Leon Love (15-0, 8 KO’s) took to his personal Instagram page to inform his followers of the passing of his older brother Gerald, who was killed in a shooting in his native Detroit, Michigan.

Obviously shocked and saddened upon hearing the news, Love has since regrouped to continue his training at the Mayweather Boxing Club ahead of his forthcoming duel with Gabriel Rosado.

“I can cover it up pretty good,” Love said when speaking of his emotions. “Because I still have a task that I’ve got to complete. I love my brother to death, that’s my big brother. I just appreciate everybody that’s been showing me love and sending condolences to me.”

Love understands that his brother would want the best for him, and that’s why he has no choice by to continue pushing forward under the tutelage of his trainer Roger Mayweather.

“This is just motivation, because, to be honest with you, if I slowed down and my brother was here, he’d slap me right in the mouth,” Love said. “At the end of the day, I’m going to just keep it going and keep him in my memory.”

The Love-Rosado clash takes place inside of the MGM Grand on May 4th on the Floyd Mayweather-Robert Guerrero undercard. Showtime pay per view will host the fight.
