WBC cruiserweight champion Grigory Drozd (39-1, 27KOs) was honored by the World Boxing Council for last month's career-defining victory over longtime champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk of Poland. The fight, which took place on September 27th at the Dynamo Palace of Sport in Moscow, saw Drozd dominated the Polish champion over twelve rounds, dropping the boxer in the eight round and winning a one-sided decision to capture the title. Drozd has come a long way since getting knocked out by then WBA champion Firat Arslan in 2006.
