Kobe, Japan - Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez (48-7, 42KOs) redeemed himself by knocking out Hozumi Hasegawa (29-4, 12KOs) in the fourth round to win the WBC featherweight crown at the War Memorial Hall. Hasegawa was making the first defense of the vacant title he won from Juan Carlos Burgos last November. Gonzalez wanted revenge after Toshiaki Nishioka traveled to Mexico in May of 2009 and knocked Gonzalez out in three rounds.

In almost a mirror image of the Hasegawa's defeat to Fernando Montiel, the Japanese boxer was doing very well for the first three rounds, and was caught cold by a single punch from Gonzalez in the fourth for the knockout.

WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (38-4-3, 24KOs) stopped Mauricio Munoz (21-3, 9KOs) in the ninth round. Munoz started well, but faded in the later rounds and fell apart in the ninth as the champion battered him with big shots.

WBC super featherweight champion Takahiro Aoh (21-2-1, 10KOs) stopped Humberto Gutierrez (28-3-1, 20KOs) in the fourth round after landing a crippling shot to the body.
