Carson, California - For the vacant WBA "regular" middleweight title, Erislandy Lara (28-3-3, 16 KOs) brutally knocked out Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna (30-5-1, 12 KOs) in the first round. (photos by Sean Michael Ham, Fox Sports)
Lara started landing accurate punches early in the first round. He landed a huge left hand and Cornflake was knocked out cold as he hit the deck very hard. The fight was quickly waved off.
The WBA 'super" champion at 160-pounds is Japanese superstar Ryota Murata, who is not scheduled to return at the moment - but there are rumors that he will fight IBF world champion Gennady Golovkin in a unification clash at the end of the year.
