Gimnasio Polifuncional, Los Mochis, Mexico - Former four division world champion Jorge Arce (64-6, 46 KOs) won an easy ten round unanimous decision over Mauricio Martinez (37-13, 24 KOs) in a super bantamweight clash. The scores were 97-92, 99-90 and 99-90. Arce complained afterwards that Martinez only came to survive and did nothing to make it an exciting contest.

Juan Carlos Sánchez (15-1, 8 KOs) struggled at times but he retained his IBF super flyweight world title by scoring a sensational ninth round knockout over Filipino challenger Rodel Mayol (32-6, 22 KOs). At 2:25, American referee Allen Huggins counted to ten after Mayol was went flying out of the ring and to the announcers table from from a powerful left-right combination - and the crowd went wild.
