Los Mochis, Sin - After seven weeks of intensive training in Los Mochis, the world flyweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, finished up the strong stage of his camp, and for the next couple of days he will only perform exercises to improve his speed and to maintain his weight.

 

"Tyson" Marquez (30-2-0, 23 KOs) will make the first defense of his WBA world championship against Philippines boxer Edrin Dapudong (22-3-0, 13 KOs) in the main event of the card "Mexico vs. Philippines" on July 2 in Hermosillo. Zanfer is promoting the card. TV Azteca will televise in Mexico and Fox Sports will showcase the card in the U.S. and Latin America.

Marquez, 22 years old and trained under the direction of Don Manuel Montiel in Los Mochis, where the champion had a strong camp of over 50 days which included morning runs, intense sessions of rigorous training with hard sessions of sparring with the likes Fernando Montiel, Hugo Cazares and the same "Travieso" Arce. He also took part in some very tough workouts with exercise equipment.

"I feel a little anxious because the fight is near. I am very satisfied with the results obtained in my preparation with Montiel and I'm much more confident that everything will be fine on July 2," said "Tyson."

Marquez and his team will arrive on Sunday to Hermosillo, head straight to a hotel, and then on Monday morning they will start to take part in promotional activities related to the show.

Ticket sales continue at a good pace and are still available at Discos y Novedades y Onda Latina in Hermosillo, Sonora. Prices are $800 pesos, $600, $250 and $100.
