With a suitcase full of dreams, Juan José "Goofy" Montes left his native Guadalajara, Jalisco, to establish his training camp "headquarters" in the state of Durango, where he joined the team of Cristian Mijares to continue his preparation against for the fight on May 21 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, against the current flyweight ruler of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Veracruz star Tomas "Gusano" Rojas. Mijares, the IBF super flyweight champion, will defend his title on May 14.

"I'm thrilled to work alongside a great figure in boxing like Cristian Mijares ... and it's a great experience to share the training room ... to be working alongside a fighter like Mijares, who has been world champion three times (WBC, WBA and IBF), who knows what it's like in the big leagues of professional boxing," said Montes.
