BoxingScene.com has been advised that Johan Perez (15-0-1, 12KOs) vs. Pablo Cesar Cano (24-1-1, 19KOs), taking place on July 21st in Mexico, could have the full WBA 140-pound title on the line. The World Boxing Association is going to make a final ruling in the next few days. Perez is the WBA's interim-champion at 140 and Marcos Maidana is the "regular" champion, but Maidana recently moved up to 147-pounds and does not appear to be moving back down in the near future.

Perez held a press conference in Caracas to discuss the fight with Cano. He feels the fight will end in a knockout.

"I feel great and I hope that my opponent is in great shape and ready to give a good show. Here in Venezuela, with the support of my father, who is the head of my corner, we are going to examine the technical details of my opponent and make the necessary adjustments. I do not believe the fight will reach the full twelve rounds, but I'm ready to fight all twelve if necessary," Perez said.

During the presser, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz said there were big plans in store for Perez if he wins in two weeks.

"After this fight, big fights are going to come to Johan - like Humberto Soto and Argentine Lucas Mathysse. In this division he is very talented and Johan wants to face the best," said Diaz.
