Paul Smith could be in line for another title shot.

The Liverpool super-middleweight, who has fought for global honours twice and been in the ring with pound-for-pound star Andre Ward, was last in action last September, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Smith stopped Daniel Regi at the O2 Arena, as part of the undercard to Gennady Golovkin’s IBF, WBA Super, WBC and IBO world middleweight title defence against IBF welterweight king Kell Brook.

And the Scouser, who currently holds a ring record of 38-6 with 22 early endings, looks set to fight for a secondary belt later this year.

Promoter Eddie Hearn told iFL TV’s Kugan Cassius that the 34-year-old has a big fight signed and that an announcement will be made “probably next week”.

Boxing Scene understands that Smith is going to be named as the next opponent for Tyron Zeuge.

The WBA ‘regular’ super-middleweight world champion is guided by Team Sauerland and they announced in a press release that the 24-year-old will return to make the first defence of his belt –– which he won against Giovanni De Carolis in November –– on March 18 in Germany, with the exact location to be confirmed.

Smith being in the opposite corner to Zeuge would fit in with Hearn telling Kugan Cassius that the fight to be confirmed for his man will be “abroad”.

Further details will be revealed in due course.
