Promoter Jean Bedard of InterBox has confirmed the information that BoxingScene.com reported last week, that former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal would be facing Roberto Bolonti on December 6th at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The original opponent was Donovan George, who sources claimed was knocked out of the fight and replaced by Bolonti. But then George's promoter, Bobby Hitz, issued a press release and rejected any claims that his fighter was removed from the match.

Bolonti was originally scheduled to face Lucian Bute on the show, but Bute withdrew with an injury a week ago.

According to Bédard, the negotiations with George (25-4-2, 22 KO) and his team were dragging out and the event date was right around the corner.

"This decision was taken following lengthy negotiations with the George team. There comes a point where we must put an end to the negotiations and move forward. Furthermore, it is important that Jean Pascal dictates the rest of the things in his career," Bédard said a statement.

Facing Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KOs) on short notice is no problem, says Bolonti (35-3, 24 KOs).

"Although different, Pascal is just as great of a great challenge to me as Bute," commented Bolonti.
