BoxingScene.com previously announced that WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (25-0) will return to the ring on June 8th at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada in an ESPN televised main event.

Multiple Sources have now informed us that a deal with Erick Ituarte (21-1-1) is being finalized to be his opponent.  Ituarte has won his past 14 fights.

Valdez returned to the ring in February and stopped Carmine Tommasone in 7 rounds.  It was his first fight since having his jaw broken in a unanimous decision victory over Scott Quigg in March, 2018 and was his 5th title defense.

Top Rank has promoted Valdez since he turned pro after the 2012 Olympic games.  The promotional outfit also recently announced a co-promotional deal with former two-division champion Carl Frampton.  Both Valdez and Frampton have expressed their desire to face each other and a showdown is very possible to take place before the end of the year if Valdez defeats Ituarte.
