On Sunday after a three-year hiatus his return to the ring will make former WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev (36-7, 27 KOs). The Russian faces a former heavyweight title challenger Owen Beck (29-11, 20 KOs) of Jamaica, who has lost eight consecutive fights. Notwithstanding those circumstances, 43-years old Maskaev doesn’t undermine the experienced Jamaican and expect a tough battle. The bout between the two is scheduled for 10 rounds.

“I realize my opponent has lots of experience, he was in the top ten heavyweights in the past. I always expect a tough fight and get ready for it. I have never said I retire, if anyone wrote that, it was not true. I love boxing, it’s my whole life. I have been doing it since my childhood. When I started a family, I went abroad I took first steps as a professional fighter,” said Maskaev during a press conference which was held on in Moscow, Russia.

The Sunday’s event called “The Return of Champion” will be held at Sports Palace Quant in Troitsk (New Moscow).
