SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Olympians Jeyvier Cintron and Robson Conceicao will face Mexican opponents on July 21 in the first part of the series "Viernes de Campeones en Casino Metro Boxing Nights" to be held at the San Juan Ballroom of the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino in San Juan, presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP)

Both Cintron (1-0) and Conceicao (3-0, 2 KOs) fought in multiple Olympics, with the Puerto Rican fighting in 2012 and 2016 and the Brazilian in 2008, 2012 and 2016, winning a gold medal in the last one. Both fighters are promoted by Top Rank also.

"Jeyvier and Conceicao will fight against Mexican opponents on July 21, so we already have four of the fights for the beginning of the series "Viernes de Campeones en Casino Metro Boxing Nights". Jeyvier's rival is Jose Elizondo, who has five fights and for Conceicao is a veteran of 25 fights, Bernardo Gomez," said Peter Rivera, Vice-President of PRBBP.

Cintron, who will fight for the first time in Puerto Rico as a professional, will face Elizondo (2-3) in a four rounds and 118 pounds bout. The only Puerto Rican boxer to participate in two Olympic Games debuted in April with a decision win over Leonardo Reyes, an experienced 18-fight Mexican boxer.

Meanwhile, Conceicao, the first Brazilian to win a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics, will fight an eight rounds and 130 pounds battle against Mexican Gomez (18-7, 11 KOs).

The show will feature Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano (32-1-1, 24 KOs), the only woman and Puerto Rican to be world champion in five divisions, defending for the second time her WBO superbantamweight belt against Hungarian Edina Kiss (13-4, 7 KOs); Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo (26-5, 16 KOs) will face Costa Rican Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KOs) for the WBO Latino scepter in the 130-pound 10-round.

Three other fights will be announced later to complete the card.

Boxeo Telemundo Ford,” the #1 Spanish-language boxing program in the U.S., returns this Friday, July 14 at 11:30 PM/10:30 C from the Blackberry Auditorium in Mexico City where Mexicans Rómulo Koasicha 25-6 (15 KO’s) and Josue “Chino” Veraza 18-8-2 (14Ko’s) will fight for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Featherweight Latino Title. Telemundo Deportes’ commentators René Giraldo and Edgar López will call the action.

Koasicha returns to Boxeo Telemundo for his first fight since March of 2016 when he lost against Orlando “El Fenómeno” Cruz in a bout for the NBAO/OMB Featherweight title. The Mexican fighter debuted as a professional boxer in 2008, winning 16 of his first 17 matches. In 2012, he defeated Eduardo “Candela” Becerril taking the WBC U.S. Featherweight title which he successfully defended twice until Jesús “El Zurdo de Oro” Galicia defeated him in April, 2013. Later that year he regained it after beating the Colombian Alejandro Monterrosa.

Josué “Chino” Veraza goes back to the ring after losing against Horacio “El Violento” García earlier this year. In 2016, he defeated Jesús “El Zurdo de Oro” Galicia and Mario “El Yayo”Muñoz who then held a record of 16-1. Veraza debuted as a professional boxer in 2009 when participating at Mexican competitions. He remain unbeaten for closely three years until 2011 when he was defeated by the Colombian Miguel Marriaga. Since then he’s been competing for several titles.

“Boxeo Telemundo Ford” will return again to the Blackberry Auditorium in Mexico City on Friday, July 21 when Antonio “Toño” Morán faces Wilberth López for the WBO Latin Lightweight Title.

The last bout of the summer series will be staged on Friday, July 28 live from the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, FL when David “Severo” Carmona takes on José “Chiquiro” Martínez for the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) Super Flyweight Title.

Wes Smith is hoping to impress on BCB Promotions’ ‘Summer Sizzler II’ show at the Guildhall, Plymouth, on Saturday, 29th July as he aims to get his third victory as a professional.

The unbeaten fighter told bcb-promotions.com he is looking to build on his last outing and he wants an opponent who can test him and push him on to the next level.

The 25-year-old has had both fights so far in the Guildhall and he is delighted to be back there as he searches for a performance that could propel him closer to making the step up in the sport.

 “I am really looking forward to being back boxing in the Guildhall,” he added. “I want to have a few more fights there because the support I get in Plymouth helps to spur me on when I am in the ring.

“I want to take things one step at a time and just focus on the next fight and not overlook anything. Obviously I want titles in this sport but I don’t know what will happen and I am taking it as it comes.

“I see this next fight as a stepping stone to bigger things and hopefully I can relax and put on a quality performance that will get people taking notice and give me the chance to go for titles.”

The sheep farmer has a busy schedule, getting up early to tend to the animals as well as training, but he is adamant he is content with his hectic workload.

 “The farming is going good. I am quite busy with it at the morning with the sheep and the lambs but lambing was fine this year and I am happy doing both the farming and boxing.

“It gives me a good balance and I feel ready to go for this fight.”
