Martin Murray’s world title fight against Arthur Abraham is unlikely to be shown in Manchester.

The St Helens super middleweight travels to Germany this weekend to take on the WBO champion as he bids to become a global ruler at the fourth time of asking.

On the same night, like Murray, Anthony Crolla fights WBA lightweight champion Darleys Pérez for the world title in a rematch, live on Sky Sports.

And it was planned that the Abraham-Murray fight, at the TUI Arena in Hannover, would be shown on screens at Manchester Arena, where New Moston’s Crolla has his second date with Colombian destiny, so that it wouldn’t be missed.

But it has now been revealed that those plans have been shelved, with action from Manchester ongoing as Sky Sports switches overseas.

“I think it’s unlikely that we’re going to be showing the Martin Murray [versus Arthur Abraham] fight,” promoter Eddie Hearn told BoxingScene.

“The fight I’m going to put on while Sky are at the Murray fight is going to be Isaac Lowe defending his English title against Ryan Doyle, which is a good fight, so that will be recorded and shown after the Pérez-Crolla fight.

“Sky will head to Germany at about 10pm for Abraham-Murray and then come back [to Manchester] for the ringwalks here, which are expected to be about 11pm.

“And the reason we’re doing that is because there are fights that we need to get on and we can’t really have an hour-long gap in the arena.”
