According to a report on SFN, Australian star Anthony Mundine has suffered a cut in training and now his scheduled fight with Rigoberto Alvarez of Mexico has been postponed from September 21 to October 19 in Newcastle. Mundine and Alvarez will battle for the WBA's interim-junior middleweight title. Mundine confirmed the injury, stating that he suffered a cut above his eye from a sparring session.

“I'm very upset about this because I was primed to win,” Mundine said. “Still trying to get my head round it. But everything happens for reason. My cut would have been to fresh in two weeks so had no choice but to postpone. I'm sorry...but we will be victorious on the new date.”
