International Convention Centre, East London, Eastern Cape - Tsiko Mulovhedzi (10-7, 6KOs) stopped Ali Funeka (36-5) in the fifth round to capture the IBO welterweight title.

Funeka came out doing well in the first two round, but then fell apart by the third round, when he was dropped twice by Mulovhedzi. From that point on the 37-year-old fighter was barely able to survive until the fifth, when he was dropped once again. He was then battered until referee Deon Dwarte wisely waved off the contest.

Mulovhedzi has now won six fights in a row, and Funeka loses his first bout after building a five fight win streak.

In the co-feature, Lwandile Sityatha (19-2) kept hold of the IBO super flyweight belt with a close twelve round split decision win over Gideon Buthelezi (14-5). The judges had it 117-111 and 115-113 for Sityatha and the third scored 115-113 for Buthelezi.
