Reports have been circulating that Sugar Shane Mosley will be fighting current WBA Welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi next year as Mosley will be coming out of retirement for this fight.

Mosley was on hand at the Watson Family Christmas Classic Charity basketball game and though no official announcement has been made, the Malignaggi is the fight Mosley is gearing up for.

One interesting note that Mosley shared was when he does return next year, he will not be training with Naazim Richardson who Mosley has been working with since late 2008. Instead Mosley will be training with his father who Mosley trained with earlier in his career.

“I’m going to train with my father for this fight. Naazim is very good and I have a lot of respect for Naazim and his training work but this time I believe, going into this and coming back its legacy. My father, me, my son, its legacy. It’s something that I believe that has to be done” Mosley would reveal.

Mosley believes he’s coming back for legacy and feels it would only be right to take that path with his father. He assures there is no ill will or any reason in particular that he will not be training under the tutelage of Richardson other than the one stated before.

“It has nothing to do with Naazim not training me right or not. No, he’s done a great job. Worked with me hard and does everything I like in a trainer. Great trainer, great person, great philosopher, he does it all. I believe that legacy overshadows that in me and my father working together and then my son. It has to be done” explained Mosley.

Mosley’s short lived retirement comes to an end the same year he announced it but says he feels physically capable of still competing.
