Former WBO Interim light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero and IBF flyweight champion Moruti “Baby Face” Mthalane have both made the weight for their title fight set  at the Nasrec Indoor Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday night, Sunday, Manila Time.

Promoter Sammy Gello-ani who is in South Africa told BoxingScene.com/Inquirer that Casimero who was almost five pounds over when he arrived in Johannesburg on Monday, weighed in at 111.3 pounds while the champion Mthalane came in slightly heavier at 111.9 pounds.

Gello-ani said Casimero had been controlling his weight and kept eating only light meals. The promoter said the Filipino challenger “skipped breakfast and lunch”  before the 2:00 p.m. weigh in.

Under IBF rules both fighters will be weighed once again on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and should not exceed the 112 pound weight limit by any more than 10 pounds.

Gello-ani said the weather conditions were “very good” and that Casimero “is in shape and with high hopes of winning the title.”
