Sources close to the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that a deal is very close to being finalized for a light heavyweight rematch between Edison Miranda (34-6, 29KOs) and Yordanis Despaigne (9-1, 4KOs). The rematch will likely take place on a February date at the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, and ESPN is probably going to televise the bout as part of their Friday Night Fights series.

Their initial fight, which took place in July of this year, was televised by ESPN and staged at the Cosmo in Las Vegas. The encounter had non-stop fireworks, dirty tactics and controversy. In the fifth round, as the action was heating up even further, Miranda was disqualified for a low blow. It was Miranda's third infraction. He lost two points in the earlier rounds for repeated low blows.
