Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Cebu City, Philippines - In a very close fight, Milan Melindo (28-0, 11KOs) won a twelve round majority decision over former interim champ Jean Piero Perez (19-5-1, 14KOs) of Venezuela. Melindo retains his WBO International flyweight title. The scores were 116-112, 115-113 and 114-114.

In the early rounds, Melindo was aggressive with good combinations, speed and showed his power. But Perez finally found his groove after a slow start and began to box smart while landing hard punches. In the seventh round, a big right hand damaged the left eye of Melindo. In the second half, Perez appeared to be the better boxer, and landed a higher volume of the bigger shots, in what turned out to be a very close contest.
