Melbourne’s Michael Zerafa won his eight-round contest against Tommy Browne after the latter had to pull out before the second round after sustaining an arm injury.

Zerafa is now 32-5 (20 KOs) following victory at the ICC Sydney Theatre.

Browne, a 41-year-old from Campbelltown, New South Wales, tried showing off his damaged arm injury after the fight as he fell to 45-9-2 (19 KOs).

The first round was lively. Zerafa flew across the ring to make a fast start but he got caught a couple of times for his enthusiasm.

Then, it looked like Browne injured his arm as he sat on his stool between rounds and might not come out for the second, prompting a mele between the fighters and their camps.

Zerafa kept telling Browne he quit, while Browne was trying to show his opponent that his bicep had unravelled up his arm.

Already the pantomime villain as Australian boxing’s bad boy, Zerafa was declared a winner amid a chorus of boos.

“Man, I was in first gear,” said Zerafa, who said he wants the winner of the main event between Nikita Tszyu and Koen Mazoudier. “He quit in the second round. It is what it is. Nikita, I’m coming… I want the Tszyu boys. I love all my haters. Keep on hatin’ Zerafa ain’t going fuckin’ nowhere.”
