James Metcalf has been handed an opponent ahead of his first show as the headline fighter.

The Liverpool super-welterweight, who is undefeated in 13 outings (6 KOs) since turning professional in 2011, will return in the autumn.

Metcalf is the son of former champion Shea Neary. And he will return, after most recently securing a points win over four rounds in Solihull in July, on October 7 at Greenbank Sports Academy in his home city.

‘Kid Shamrock’ is set to come back as part of MGM Liverpool’s ‘Genesis’ card, which is their first show, and will come up against Bradley Pryce over eight rounds on the bill.

Pryce has won his last two fights and will be confident of going in there and causing an upset, but the 37-20 (19 KOs) veteran, from Wales, must first get past his next outing unscathed.

The former Commonwealth super-welterweight champion, 35, is scheduled to face Justin Menzie (3-0, 1 KO) on September 17 at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue.

And providing there is no issues with cuts or stoppages, Pryce, whose nickname is ‘Sugar Sweet’, will be in the opposite corner to Metcalf in just under six weeks’ time.

Metcalf’s tussle with Pryce tops a card which features the professional debut of Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Sam Maxwell as well as former British middleweight title challenger Tom Doran.

Ryan Moorhead (7-1, 1 KO) and John Quigley (13-0, 2 KOs) will each make their MGM debuts on the show, while Tommy Carus, Ged Carroll, Steven Lewis and Brandon Daord are also set for action on the bill.
