World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion, Yamileth “Yeimi” Mercado, will make the first defense of her title, against her compatriot, Alejandra “Rockera” Guzman, top of the bill on Saturday, February 6, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

Mercado (16-2-0, 5 KO’s) and Guzmán (11-1-2, 5 KO’s) will arrive in a great moment. The world champion comes from knocking out Irasema Rayas in four rounds, in a fight in which she suffered a broken nose after an accidental clash of heads.

She overcome this and accomplished a grueling camp in Los Mochis, shared with world champions and gym mates, Miguel Berchelt and Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada, with whom she even sparred.

The challenger started her career with a loss in July 2015, and by September 2017 she won 4 fights and drew 2. Since 2018, she has seven wins, four by knockout.

The fight, is promoted by Zanfer and 2M Promotions, to be broadcasted by TV Azteca.
