WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. issued a response to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum. Mayweather, likely responding to BoxingScene.com's Monday night interview with Arum , advised the promoter to contact Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, and manager Al Haymon, to finalize the details for a unification with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

In the BoxingScene interview, Arum questioned whether or not Schaefer was involved with Mayweather. He wanted Mayweather to direct Top Rank on who to contact in order to finalize the negotiations. Also in the interview, Arum wanted someone to guarantee Mayweather's money for the fight. Mayweather stated that he has a guarantee on the fight. The issue of the date remains. Arum wants late-May in an outdoor venue. Mayweather refuses to budge from the date of May 5.

"I'm ready to fight Pacquiao [on] May 5, 2012. Bob Arum knows the date can't change. I have my guarantee. Call Schaefer an Al and stop lying to the public," Mayweather wrote on his Twitter page.
