CARSON --- Judges? Who needs judges?

Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KOs) of Trelew, Argentina, and John Molina (27-3, 22 KOs) of Covina are planning to blast away on each other when they go toe-to-toe for the vacant WBC Continental Americas junior-welterweight title in the co-main event on Saturday at StubHub Center on Showtime.

"I know he's a feared man," Molina said at Thursday's final pre-fight news conference. "He's somebody that people say, 'How about Lucas Matthysse? Eh, how about not Lucas Matthysse.' But we said, 'How about Lucas Matthysse.' It's going to be an explosive fight. Like (Golden Boy Promotions president) Oscar (De La Hoya) said I have a never-say-die attitude."

Molina is the underdog in this fight, but he was the underdog last year when he came from behind to knock out previously-unbeaten Mickey Bey in the 10th round.

"People say let's take a page out of Danny Garcia's book. That's how to beat him," Molina said. "With all due respect to Danny Garcia, I'm not Danny Garcia. I'm never going to claim to be Danny Garcia. I do what I do best and that's fight. I come, I throw punches, I'm a heavy hitter and I'm a force to be reckoned with. I'm excited for this fight. I know we're not going find Lucas Matthysse. He's the kind of guy that sits there and exchanges. He's known to be a heavy hitter. He's a proven heavy hitter at that. He's got our undivided attention. We're coming into this fight fully prepared. We trained hard. Training camp went well. ... And the judges, I don't believe you guys need to attend this fight. I don't think I stand alone by saying that. It's going to be a war and it's going to be bombs away and we'll see who comes out standing."

Matthysse is coming off a decision loss to Garcia last September, which cost him his WBC junior-welterweight title.

"I just want to let you know I'm very well prepared," Matthysse said. "I'm very excited to be back. I'm ready. We know what John Molina brings. He's a strong fighter. We're ready for Saturday night."
