On Saturday, before a crowd of over 22,000 fans at the new Arena Mexico in Mexico City - Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Sergey Fedchenko (30-2, 13KOs) to win the WBO's interim-junior welterweight title. The scores were 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110.

Marquez plans to return on July 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The four division world champion praised Fedchenko, admitting the Ukrainian boxer presented a few stylistic complications.

Marquez hopes to secure a fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao, in the fall, but the fourth fight is not a sure thing until the outcome of Pacquiao's fight on June 9th against Timothy Bradley.

"I was moved, I was moved by the response from the audience [to my fight], which was something great. I wanted to give them a victory by knockout, but I failed to do so. Fedchenko is very brave, has a lot of stamina and can fight going backwards. But there is no doubt about my victory. I hope to get news about a fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao, sooner than later. I'll go against a lefty on July 14 in Texas," Marquez said.
