Rumors are circulating around that investors in Asia are willing to put $70 million for Juan Manuel Marquez to travel overseas for a fifth fight with Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao.

The boxers last met in 2012, with Marquez scoring a spectacular sixth round knockout over Pacquiao. In the previous three meetings, they fought to a draw in 2004 and Pacquiao win close and some felt controversial decisions in 2008 and 2011.

Inactive since defeating Mike Alvarado in May of 2014, Marquez is in his third week of training at the Romanza Gym for a planned return - which the Mexican veteran is hoping takes place on a date in June.

Earlier this year, Marquez made a bold statement that he would reject an offer of even $100 million to fight Pacquiao for a fifth time.

Even Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, had a recent meeting with Marquez and the Mexican boxer told him that he would reject "any amount of money" to face Pacquiao again.

Marquez believes the Pacquiao rivalry is a dead issue and sees absolutely no reason for a fifth meeting.

Making a statement is one thing. Now that there might be real money on the table, would Marquez stand firm on his position?

"I do not know if [that offer is] serious, if it's just a rumor - but at the end of the day whether it's 30, 40, 50 or 100 million - what was written was written," Marquez told ESPN Deportes. "There are fighters who can be offered [that amount], but personally that [money] is not important to me."

As far as his comeback, Marquez says his training is right on track - even without his head trainer, Nacho Beristain, who is currently preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for an all-Mexican mega-bout with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena.

"Everything is good. We started practically on February 10 and this is the third week. We are starting to pick up the pace. I feel that on the one hand it is good [that Nacho is not here at the moment] and on the other hand it is bad. We will work as we have always done... with courage, with heart. He has a commitment and he has to comply with that, and my commitment is to be in the gym and that commitment is important," Marquez said.
