Top middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio stopped former welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir in five rounds at the Estadio Miguel Aleman of Celaya, Guanajuato. The fight took place at the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds. In the first round, Rubio shook up Baldomir in the first round. Rubio was hurt during the round from two head clashes.

After taking punishment for the next three rounds, Baldomir was unable to come out of his corner when the bell rang to signal the start of the fifth round and he was counted out on his stool. Rubio improved his record to 55 wins with 48 knockouts, six defeats and a draw, while Carlos Baldomir dropped down to 49 wins, with 15 by knockout and 15 defeats. 

In the co-feature, middleweight contender Marcos Reyes (25-1, 21KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over veteran Julio Cesar Garcia (45-7, 38KOs). The scores were 99-91, 96-95 and 96-94.
