Craig Kennedy will have to wait a little longer to box again.

The Welshman, who is the current IBF International cruiserweight champion, had been set to fight for the vacant British title on March 11, live on Channel 5.

But the 31-year-old (16-0, 8 KOs) has been forced out of his fight after the show it was scheduled to take place on, at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales, was pulled by promotional outfit Cyclone Promotions.

The postponement of the show, which was slated to feature a rematch between Conrad Cummings and Ronny Mittag for the latter’s IBF Inter-Continental middleweight title, comes on the back of the withdrawal of Stephen Simmons.

‘Simbo’, 32, who has a 15-2 ledger with seven early endings, was set to take on Kennedy with domestic honours at stake after mandatory challenger Matty Askin pulled out of the original contest through injury.

However, Simmons then pulled out, citing circumstances beyond his control, leaving Blain McGuigan –– the licensed Cyclone promoter –– with no choice but to put the show on ice until a later date.

“Cyclone Promotions are liaising with the British Boxing Board of Control and the management of Matthew Askin to clarify when he will be ready to box Craig Kennedy for the vacant British cruiserweight title,” a statement, released on Friday, read.

“Customers are advised to retain their tickets as all tickets remain valid for the rescheduled date, [which is] to be confirmed shortly.”

Kennedy last boxed in London in November and previously defended his IBF International crown against Joel Tambwe Djeko last May, but he will now be forced to wait until his next ring appearance.

Morgan Jones was down feature on the undercard alongside Wales’ only active female fighter Ashley Brace.

Mason Jones and Jason Sillett will now have to find alternate shows on which to box and the same will have to be done by the teams of Nathan Thorley, Chris Jenkins and British, WBC International and IBF Inter-Continental flyweight king Andrew Selby, who were all set to see action.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase, if required, and further details will be revealed in due course.
