An article was recently published on BoxingScene.com that stated the proposed April 27th showdown between WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi and Shane Mosley was likely not going to happen because a financial agreement with Malignaggi has proved difficult to reach.

"Right now, as of about an hour ago, it looks like that fight might not happen," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. "I just think that the financials are such that it's getting difficult to get the fight done, not because of Shane Mosley."

BoxingScene spoke to Malignaggi shortly after the article ran and he said that the Mosley fight isn't on the top of his wish list.

"If my promoter wants to say that I'm holding up the Mosley fight then let's forget it and do a fight with Marcos Maidana. I've wanted to fight Maidana for 100 years. Ever since he called me out on Twitter. He wants to fight me and I want to fight him," Malignaggi explained.

Last year Maidana called out the Brooklynite shortly after he became a two division champion by defeating Vyachesalv Senchenko in his backyard.  Malignaggi and Maidana are both promoted by Golden Boy so the fight would seem to be fairly easy to finalize.

"We have the same the promoter.  It shouldn't be hard to make the fight. He wants to come back in a big fight in the spring. He doesn't have a fight yet.  My fight with Mosley fell apart so why not make a Malignaggi-Maidana fight?" Malignaggi reasoned.

The Italian-American fighter has received a lot of criticism on Twitter by fans and media a like about the proposed Mosley fight. Malignaggi, the self proclaimed Twitter King (#TK),  said that he wants the critics to check his resume before they say he is avoiding anyone.

"Maidana is one of the most exciting fighters of this generation.  Have I ever ducked anyone?  Fans and media alike should have known better than to think I was ducking Maidana. I always wanted the fight.  I was just made to understand it wasn't possible to make it.  Well now I will come out and publicly say it, I want Marcos Maidana!  The fans want it and I'm sure Marcos wants it. Let's do it!," he concluded.
