Jessie Magdaleno is about to get his career wish - world title fight before a hometown crown.

Magdanelo, who is a Las Vegas resident, is close to a deal to challenge WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire on November 5th at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The main event of the evening will feature another Las Vegas fighters, WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, who defends his title against another Filipino fighter, the returning eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao. The broadcaster has yet to be finalized, but it's going to be Pacquiao first fight outside of HBO since 2011.

There will be a lot of hype with Magdanelo's match, because Donaire (37-3, 24 knockouts) has never fought on the same card as Pacquiao - although the two athletes have shared the same promoter, Top Rank, for years.

“I was just talking about that the other day with my coach, how cool would that be if two Vegas fighters face two Filipinos, and we both win titles,” Magdaleno said to the Las Vegas Review Journal. “It would be great for Vegas and a great day for both of us. I hope it happens.”

Magdaleno is the mandatory challenger and the fight was going to come sooner or later. The young fighter will turn 25 on November - and wants that world title as an early birthday present.

Jessie has a few siblings who became pro fighters, with older brother Diego Magdaleno being the most well known of the bunch. Diego failed in his two world title attempts against Roman Martinez and Terry Flanagan. Jessie was always regarded as the most talented of the siblings.

“It’s finally going to happen, I’ve been waiting on (Donaire) for almost a year now and finally things are falling into place,” said Magdaleno. “My manager Frank Espinoza is working on the contract and just waiting on his green light.”
