Trainer German Caicedo, who works with Cuban heavyweight puncher Luis Ortiz (28-1, 24 KOs), allowed a reasonable amount of time to pass before watching the contest with Deontay Wilder again.

On March 3rd, Ortiz appeared to be on the verge of capturing the WBC world title when he badly hurt Wilder in the seventh round of their exciting fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

But Wilder eventually recovered and dropped Ortiz two times in the tenth for a knockout victory.

Ortiz's coach has taken note of everything and trusts that his boxer will move forward and return even stronger in the future.

They are pushing for a rematch with Ortiz - and the trainer believes Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) would get knocked out if the two boxers met again.

And he rejects the claims that his fighter made a huge error by failing to finish Wilder off in the eight round.

"I saw the fight the night before, it's always different from when you watch it live. I saw that we were winning, but I knew we were not going to win by decision. We failed in different areas, Luis is fine, he's not beaten and he wants another chance," Caicedo told George Ebro.

"We have to thank Wilder for taking the fight, he could have done what many others did - wait for Luis to get social security and face him when he was 60 years old. The mistake [Ortiz made] was not in the eighth, but [the mistake was made] in the seventh.. he wanted to rip his head off and he did not settle down a bit more to work the body, he got emotional, but you do not train for those things.

"Wilder has no defense, Luis showed it, but I repeat if that fight ended in the 12th round - we would not win it by decision. I told Luis, 'if the two of you stand in the middle of the ring and look at each other without throwing, Wilder will win. You have to remove the belt from him.'

"We would fix certain mistakes that we made and we would knock him out in the first round. Wilder was given the respect of a champion [in the early rounds], but the man has a big right hand, and if it's taken away then he has nothing left."
