Newly crowned IBF featherweight champion Luis Alberto “Venado” Lopez is not interested in a rematch with Josh Warrington - because he considers him to be “a very dirty fighter”.

Two weeks ago, Lopez traveled to Leeds to win a twelve round majority decision over Warrington to become the new IBF champion, but the Mexican fighter has complained about Warrington’s tactics and refuses to give him a shot.

“No, I never would (fight Warrington again)”, Venado Lopez told Izquierdazo. “To be honest, he (Warrington) is a very dirty fighter. He has no respect. He doesn’t deserve to be in professional boxing. With his fighting style, he can cause an accident to other boxers. With that style, he shouldn’t be allowed in boxing”.

During the fight, an accidental clash of heads caused a cut in Lopez’s left eye. There have been complaints from other boxers, including Mauricio Lara and Kiko Martinez, that Warrington uses his head during fights. Both Lara and Martinez sustained cuts from head clashes during their fights with the Leeds man.

Lopez also complained about being hit behind the head and in the legs.

“I watched it again (the fight), and I was angry”, Lopez said. “I saw Warrington punching me in the legs, and in his corner he was saying that he would keep doing that.

“It’s sad that these unfair things keep happening in boxing. I don’t know when they are going to put a limit, the commissions, the people in boxing. I’m sad about that”.

Lopez reveals that he had an argument with Warrington, and promoter Eddie Hearn, at the end of the fight.

“I was having an argument with them when the fight was over”, Lopez said. “I had an argument with Eddie Hearn, and he was telling me that I should have been deducted a point because I was clinching too much. All nonsense”.

Because it was mandatory fight, Lopez is not contractually bound to fight Warrington again. Lopez would have been open to a rematch clause, but says one was never offered.

“There is no rematch clause," Lopez said. “They had other plans, so they didn’t put one. I told them to be careful because I like to ruin others’ plans, and you can see what happened. It's an honor to show the Brits that Mexico rules in boxing, that we are a powerhouse in boxing. I'm proud to represent my country and put it in high standard."
