Vasyl Lomachenko and his manager Egis Klimas are certainly interested observers of this weekends match-up between WBA featherweight beltholder Nicholas Walters and unbeaten challenger Miguel Marriaga. A victory by the 'Axe Man' could set up a fall showdown between the two.

"That's what we're aiming for, that's what we would like to do but that depends on the Walters people," Klimas told BoxingScene.com.

Greasing the skids for this potential fight is that both are under the Top Rank promotional banner.

"I believe that's what Bob Arum wants to do, if Walters wins to fight him and Lomachenko. I think that's a good fight, we unify titles,"said Klimas.

The veteran promoter has talked of putting a potential Walters-Lomachenko clash in Dubai .

But just facing Walters isn't necessarily the top priority for the gifted Lomachenko, who won the vacant WBO title last June in just his third pro fight by easily out-pointing Gary Russell (who now holds the WBC strap).

"Vasyl wants to win that whole 126-pound division," said Klimas, who also manages Evgeny Gradovich who just recently dropped the IBF strap to Lee Selby on May 30 in London in what he calls ''a bad stoppage''.

Whoever has a belt, that's who Lomachenko is targeting for the near future - boxing politics be damned.

"Basically he want to fight nothing but the champions in his weight class. So it's Lee Selby, Walters or Gary Russell, whoever is available - that's who Lomachenko wants to fight," Klimas said.
