New York, New York- Two-time Olympics gold medal winner Vasyl Lomachenko (5-1, 3KOs) will look to add a second world title in as many weight classes in his already fast tracked career when he takes on WBO super featherweight champion Roman ‘Rocky’ Martinez, later tonight from The Theatre at Madison Square Garden.

Although Lomachenko is heavily favored, he feels Martinez should not be discounted. Both men share a common opponent in Orlando Salido. Lomachenko suffered his only career defeat, a close points loss to Salido. Martinez fought Salido twice, winning a decision the first time and going to a controversial twelve round draw last September in Las Vegas.

“I think it’s going to be a very good bout,” Lomachenko told BoxingScene.com. “We’re equal to each other because we are both champions and that’s why we think it will be a very good fight. We both fought Salido and I know the results are different but that makes it an interesting fight.”

Lomachenko was on hand for what is the front runner for fight of the year between Orlando Salido and Francisco Vargas. The two men went to war and threw a record number of punches. Lomachenko can see himself in that type of bout but says he would get hit a lot less.

“I can imagine that type of bout,” explained Lomachenko. “But those punches would be landing in the air, I really don’t like to get hit with punches. I want to entertain people who watch my fights. But first it’s my plan, the plan from my team to win the bout. After all of that, I do want to entertain the fans and do try to go out of my way.”
