BoxingScene.com spoke with Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, about the addition of former WBC 115-pound titlist Carlos Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) to the March 18th lineup at the Madison Square Garden - that features the middleweight main event between unified champion Gennady Golovkin and mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs.

The fight will be the first ring appearance for Cuadras since losing his world title by way of a twelve round decision to Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez last September at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

"Cuadras is now confirmed as one of the pay-per-view fights," said Loeffler. "We had a great reaction from his last fight, his debut where he lost a very close decision to 'Chocolatito' and the fans really enjoyed that fight as one of the best fights last year. So we think it makes sense to have him back on this show on March 18th."

Gonzalez will also be in action on the show, as the HBO Pay-Per-View co-featured attraction. He makes a mandatory defense of his WBC super flyweight title against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Cuadras will face David Carmona (20-3-5, 8 KOs) on the card.

But Loeffler sees a second chapter of Gonzalez-Cuadras as being a very good possibility for 2017.

"The WBC said that they are going to mandate the winner of 'Chocolatito-(Sor Rungvisai) to fight the winner of Cuadras-David Carmona. So I can definitely see a rematch happening if 'Chocolatito' and Cuadras win their fights," said Loeffler, who makes it clear that not having the rematch on this card was not a financial issue.

"The WBC gave 'Chocolatito' two options," he explained. "Either the rematch with Cuadras or his mandatory obligation versus (Sor Rungvisai), both of which are tremendous fights and 'Chocolatito' chose to do the mandatory for the March date."
