Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing disputes the recent allegations that were made by WBA featherweight champion Celestino Caballero , who claims that he never received a contract to fight mandatory challenger Mikey Garcia on July 28th at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Garcia has already signed his contract. Although Lewkowicz is not the promoter of either boxer, he secured the rights to promote the fight by winning the WBA's purse bid, held on May 3, with a winning submission of $440,000.

"He need to talk to his promoter. He actually called me up and I explained to him how the business works. I told him that the needs to speak to his promoter. Going by the rules of the WBA, I sent the contract on May 14, at 7:29am, to the promoter [Mayweather Promotions] of Celestino Caballero, with a copy to the WBA. I received the contract from Garcia. This has nothing to do with me. He has to go to his own promoter," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.

Initially, the contracts were due in the WBA's hands by end of business today - but Lewkowicz requested a one day extentsion to give Caballero additional time to sign.

"I made the request because I want this fight to happen. This will be a great fight and the people deserve to see this fight. I wanted to give Caballero more time to sign the contract. He has to speak to his promoter and work this out," Lewkowicz said.
