MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Leo Santa Cruz (24-0-1, 14KOs) made his super bantamweight debut and beat down two-time super flyweight champion Alexander Munoz (36-5, 28KOs) for a fifth round TKO win. Santa Cruz wins the vacant NABF super bantamweight championship.

Both fighters came out swinging for the fences. Santa Cruz was landing the harder and more accurate punches, but he was also eating some hard punches for his trouble. Santa Cruz was simply too strong and too big, and it didn't take long to chop Munoz down. At the end of the third, Munoz went down and he was lucky the clock had run out. Munoz took a beating and nearly went down in the fourth. Santa Cruz punished him some more in the fifth and put him down again. Munoz's trainer entered the ring and asked the referee to stop it.
